Kyzylorda (Kazakh: Қызылорда / Qızılorda), formerly known as Kzyl-Orda (Russian: Кзыл-Орда, 1925–1991), Ak-Mechet (Russian: Ак-Мечеть, until 1853 and 1922–1925), Perovsk (Russian: Перовск, 1867–1925) and Fort Perovsky (Russian: Форт Перовский, 1853–1867), is a city in Kazakhstan, capital of Kyzylorda Province. The city has a population of 157,400 (1999 census). The Syr Darya river passes through the city. Population: 188,682 (2009 Census results); 157,364 (1999 Census results).
