Sister cities of Kunda, Estonia

Kunda is a town (founded May 1, 1938) in Estonia, located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. There is a pulp mill (AS Estonian Cell), a cement factory and a port. Its population is ca. 4000.

Evidence of some of the oldest prehistoric communities in Estonia, hunting and fishing communities that existed around 6500 BC, were found near Kunda. This settlement gave the name to the Kunda culture.

The Rutja Airfield facility 13 km west of Kunda has served Soviet and Estonian defense interests.
