Sister cities of Denton, Greater Manchester
Denton is a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, in Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire, Denton grew as a significant centre of hat manufacture, though today it is a predominantly residential town.

Note: Caution should be used when quoting ONS population data as the town of Denton is actually split between two ONS 'Urban Areas' for the purpose of their calculations. Denton North East, Denton South and the part of Denton West to the east of the M60 constitutes the Denton (Tameside) Urban Area (population in 2001 was 26,886). While the area of Denton West to the west of the M60 - Dane Bank and Thornley Park - is included in the Stockport Urban Area (population in 2001 was 136,082, of which 7,400 were resident in that part of Denton West to the west of the M60)
